“Cloud and Beyond the Infinite” is an installation with real-time virtual simulation. All photos are generated and produced from this "cloud machine" automatic program. Combined with enhanced rendering engines which create high-definition visual representations, the era of immersive virtual environments – in particular, the Metaverse - is arriving. Yet behind the dazzling and realistic visuals are continuously expanding data centers, requiring unprecedented GPU processing and power consumption, resulting in an increase of carbon emissions. As the Metaverse becomes better and more habitable, our physical environment will gradually deteriorate. In Cloud and Beyond the Infinite, Yang chooses to depict an immersive virtual world in which a circulation of clouds exists in a new context.
