Willem de Kooning Academy hosted the BLURRING THE LINES - EdU Edition 2022 in Rotterdam on February 24-25.
“Photography is usually practiced in the presence and with the assistance of several individuals, but its history and theory have been written as the story of single heroes — the photographers — and the technology and instruments they use.” Ariella Azoulay
Students from several art schools had the opportunity to discuss, reflect and work collaboratively during two days on the notion of “collaboration.” They used photography as an excuse to create an encounter between several protagonists in which the photographer cannot a priori claim a monopoly over knowledge, authorship, ownership, and rights. With this in mind, students imagined ways to interact with each other.
Participant schools: Paris College of Art, HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, The Royal Academy of Art of The Hague, St. Joost Academy, and Willem de Kooning Academy, as well as FOTODOK.
