Domestic violence is not a personal problem but very much a social issue. In the “Unseen Circumstances” series of works, Patricia Rodas metaphorically reconstructs the anxious visual sensation of moments of aggression in the home. Her work focuses on the visual aesthetic as a metaphor representing a post-traumatic experience and certain types of emotions related to the post-traumatic experience. Landscape plays an important role in her art and can be seen as a protective embrace or a threatening element. In her artistic practice, she works analog with a 4x5-inch view camera shooting on film.
