Following his graduation from the Royal Academy Arts (BA, Photography) in The Hague he is currently undergoing his Master of Arts in photography at Aalto University in Helsinki where he is working further on his on-going fascination with understanding and examining landscape as a cultural and political construct layered with attached meanings.
By tracing both the recognizable and undefined place of landscape in relation to national identity the project explores ways in which representations of foreign lands play a role in the process of being both excluding and including, feeling familiar and unfamiliar at once.
Working with elements of recontextualization the works explore the possibility to deconstruct the cultural and political significance of landscape and the variety of ideological concepts attached to it.
