“SUSU” is an intersectional feminist publication that aims to celebrate the diverse and multi-layered Indonesian female identities by confronting social, political, and cultural issues Indonesian women face through a fashion lens. The first issue dives deep into how feminism has progressed in Indonesia through four fashion editorials reflecting the four waves of feminism. From the national hero Kartini, brave members of the Women’s Journals Foundation, renowned performance artist Melati Suryodarmo and inspiring writer and trans advocate Ian Hugen, this project honors trailblazing women who have broken the mold of a traditional Indonesian woman.
