Blurring the Lines is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote and encourage all initiatives in various fields of photography and education, contributing to academic, local, and global dialogues, enabling young graduates to obtain international recognition. Photography has evolved considerably since its invention, and education is without any doubt a significant element that has accompanied and shaped this evolution. How emerging photographers are exploring the photography boundaries is a captivating subject that has inspired Blurring the Lines to start in 2016 by founders Klaus Fruchtnis and Steve Bisson.Â
Blurring the Lines aim to promote students' graduation research work, get international recognition, and contribute to an academic dialogue. The past selected projects have shown a different expansion of modes of representation through photography. A change that indeed refers to the digitization and the frontiers of post-production, the contamination between other visual languages, the relationship between the availability of technology and new forms of expression.
Coming to its seventh edition, Blurring the Lines has collaborated with various international institutions to promote dialogue and research around the production of images and its cultures through exhibitions, international conferences, books, students' meetings and talent scouting activities. At Blurring the Lines, we are committed to ensuring the values of inclusivity, empowerment, and respect in our work. We stand up for a dedicated and supporting organization that helps and promotes the younger generation to enter into the professional world.
One of the main aims of Blurring the Lines is to open spaces for dialogue, exchange, and cooperation. To do this, we welcome people and institutions from all across the world. We are particularly committed to working and collaborating with people from racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQI+ communities, people with disabilities, and people who identify with disadvantaged economic classes. It is essential that our organization is inclusive and that all our members and partners have a positive experience when working with us. We, therefore, do not tolerate any forms of harassment, exclusion, verbal and physical violence in any of the spaces we provide and create.
Harassment includes verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity, and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or games, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
We expect all our members and partners to comply with this policy in developing our work program and renewed strategy. Please contact us if you experience or notice any form of harassment or violation of respect in any of our projects, videos, publications, media appearances, events, or have any questions about this.Â
